Alan Gershman

Civic Leader and Former Coro Program Director

Alan Gershman’s civic career spans decades and lives across sectors. After graduating from Coro’s Fellows Program in Public Affairs in 1964, Alan went on to serve Coro for two decades. During his time with Coro, Alan served as an interview subject and placement host, and trained hundreds of civic leaders through programs serving aspiring K-12 educators and the Fellows Program in Public Affairs. Throughout his career, Alan has been a leader in education, serving as a teacher at Theodore Roosevelt High School and on the LAUSD Board of Education from 1981-1989. He has also served as the Manager of Governmental Affairs for Verizon, a Legislative Analyst for former LA City Councilmember David Cunningham, and a Committee Consultant for the California State Assembly.
