Christiane Cordero is a general assignment reporter for ABC7 Eyewitness News. She joined the team in August 2021, returning to her Southern California roots after 12 years spent living in the South, Northeast and Midwest.

Before KABC-TV, Christiane spent three years with WCCO-TV in Minneapolis/St Paul. She was the first television reporter to speak on camera with the Minneapolis mayor and MPD chief following George Floyd’s murder, and covered 10 days straight of the unrest that followed. When Derek Chauvin’s verdict was read, Christiane stood among the crowd of people gathered outside of the Hennepin County courthouse and shared their raw, live perspective. Christiane also covered the first COVID-19 vaccines arriving in the state, Jayme Closs’ escape from captivity, and the Minnesota State Fair.

Prior to the Twin Cities, Christiane reported for WVIT-TV in Hartford, Connecticut. She helped launch and lead its consumer investigative unit, NBC Responds, which recovered more than $250,000 for viewers.

Christiane graduated from East Carolina University as a communications major and three-year starting goalkeeper for its women’s soccer team. She is passionate about using sports to empower children in underserved communities, and gives back through volunteer work and mentorship. A second-generation American, Christiane represents the true melting pot of the region. She strongly connects with Filipino, Spanish, South Korean and Mexican cultures and speaks conversational Spanish.

In her free time, she enjoys riding her bike and exploring new places with her wife, Alli, and dogs, Moose and Rue.
