Coro+
A Coro Alumni Enrichment Series
Coro+
At Coro, we believe leadership is an action, and therefore, requires continued growth and development. Coro+ is a Coro alumni enrichment series. Each “season” consists of three sessions, all focused around a common theme. The sessions can be registered for and attended separately (á la carte) or as a package (all three sessions).
Coro+ will provide a space for Coro alumni to come together to refresh tools, connect Coro training to real-time scenarios to help you further your Coro experience, and to allow you to connect with other Coro alumni, further driving community-building across programs and cohorts.
Management is a leadership practice that not only requires managing others, but also ourselves. Coro+ Season One focuses on skills-building around different ways to understand and implement management, from both within and externally.
All Coro program alumni (including those who participated in a SCLN program) are welcome to register for Coro+ Season One; this session would best serve those Coro alums who currently manage a team or department within their organization.
Session One: Thinking Adaptively as a Manager
Date & Time: Thursday, February 15 | 3 pm – 6 pm
Facilitator: Carson Bruno, Vice President of Growth
Session Description: It is easy to think about Adaptive Leadership frameworks as being an external toolkit: teams, organizations, society. While it is a powerful system thinking tool, thinking adaptively can be a powerful way to explore our own way of thinking and those elements that prevent us from seeking, recognizing, and pushing for change (both internally and externally). Session One will revisit the Adaptive Leadership frameworks, to both refresh and reinvigorate.
Session Two: Exploring Management Styles
Date & Time: Wednesday, March 20 | 2 pm – 5 pm
Facilitator: Abril Iñiguez-Rivas, Senior Director of Training and Program
Session Description: One of Coro’s favorite modules is the Interpersonal Leadership Styles (ILS). Simply complex, ILS enables us to explore how we show up as leaders, deal with stress, communicate with others, identify when flexing styles is needed, and better understand those we work with. Session Two will bring fresh perspectives to ILS, having you (re)consider what it means to be cognizant of the different styles of leadership.
Note: participants will be required to complete the ILS assessment, regardless of when you last took the assessment. Therefore, registration for this session will close 6 weeks before the session date.
Session Three: Creating a Culture of Feedback
Date & Time: Wednesday, June 12 | 1 pm – 4 pm
Facilitator: Natalie Samarjian, President & CEO
Session Description: One of the hardest parts about being a team manager is feedback. Providing feedback is not only a requirement of management, but also is an important practice to ensure you are uplifting the growth and development of your team. A reason it is so hard, though, is because our environments are rarely set up to facilitate feedback. Session Three is focused on how to develop a culture of feedback within your team and/or organization in order to make the practice of giving and receiving feedback a more effective and holistic part of your day-to-day operations.
The sessions can be registered for and attended separately (à la carte) or as a package (all three sessions). You do not need to register for all three sessions.
All sessions will have an optional, no-host happy hour to follow at a location near the meeting location.
Meeting locations (most likely in the DTLA area) will be confirmed prior to the session.
Coro+ is only available to Coro program alumni (including those who participated in SCLN programs). Payment is due at the time of registration. Coro+ registration fees for the 2023-24 Season One are:
- À la carte: $250 per session
- Season One package (all 3 sessions): $600 (savings of $150)
